What time is it? T- time

The winds blowing, snows falling, and the air is getting colder. That can only signal one thing, springtime in Michigan. Spring is a time of renewal and growth with fresh flowers, new leaves and green grass just waiting to blossom and grow before they are torn asunder by a well hit 8-iron. Yes spring is upon us and regardless of the weather, so is golf season. In fact, there are many courses that are already open for business. Yes it may be cold and windy, and maybe the trees still have no leaves but there is still plenty of other plant life to destroy on the golf course.
It may require wearing a few extra layers and gloves, but for those diehard golfers out there, it is a small price to pay to actually get out and play a round at their favorite golf club. Due to the weather and lack of business over the winter, many of these courses are offering some great springtime specials. In fact, right now, you can golf nine holes at Meridian Sun for the low low cost of $5.00. (Limited time offer. Some restrictions apply)
There are plenty of deals out there right now, especially if you’re willing to face the elements during the workweek.
But be aware! As the temperature rises so do the rates so if you want to take advantage, go now, while the weather is still terrible. You won’t always be able to enjoy the balmy 25-degree golf rounds, so get them in before the weather takes a turn for the worse or better. It’s Michigan, who knows what the weather is going to be like from day to day. Just in case you need a few reasons to hit your local course:
1. The course is pretty clear. You are not likely to have too much trouble finding an open Tee time.
2. It’s normally cheaper. Most courses will have an advertised special and if not you may be able to convince them to give you a discount.
3. Getting a head start on the competition. Isn’t it better to work some of those kinks out of your swing before your golf league starts up?
4. Intimidation. It is probably the only tough macho thing that can be associated with golf and that is playing in the cold, rain, or snow. You don’t even need to actually play in the cold. As long as your competition assumes you played in the cold you have accomplished your mission.
5. It’s Golf. Do you really need another reason to get out? A bad day golfing is always than good day with the wife and kids.

If none of these reasons seem valid enough for you to go out to your local course, and golf a round or two then just wait a month or two until it’s warm enough for you, you giant pansy! Or maybe you should just move down to Florida with the rest of golfing public who can’t hack it in a real state. I’m sorry, that was a little out of line. I hope what I said wasn’t too hurtful, I would want to damage you fragile psyche, you pathetic momma’s boy.
You see, intimidating isn’t it?
Until next time, keep your head down, and your spirits up.
