Golf show recap

Well the month of March was a really busy one for those of us in the golf business, especially those of us who live and work in the Michigan. We kicked off this month with the Michigan Golf Show, which was held over March 8th through March 10th at the Novi Expo Center in Novi, Michigan. The Golf show was an amazing hit boasting 339 exhibitors and over 100,000 reported visitors. That’s 33,333 people per day, 4,545 people per hour, 75.76 people per minute, 1.263 people per second. OK, You get the idea, a lot of people showed up. The 339 exhibitors covered every possible aspect of golf including the following: courses, travel packages, training aids, equipment (new and used), casino, beer, etc.

The next weekend was even more intense for USGolfer.net, as we embarked on the Lansing golf show. This show while smaller than the Novi (140 exhibitors) was really more personal and warm. There were still exhibitors selling everything from new golf equipment to peach salsa, as well as booths from many courses in the Mid-Michigan area. You didn’t get feeling that our golfing neighbors to the South, Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois were invading our golf show and trying to lure our golfers down to their state.
To really cover everything that was at both Golf Shows would take way too long, there is no time, so instead I will sum up the Lansing Golf show as simply as possible
Vacations, Resorts:
If you were looking for vacationing ideas, there were plenty to choose from at the golf show. You could stay right in Michigan and head to Boyne USA, Crystal Mountain, Grand Traverse, Thunder Bay, St. Ives, Mcguire’s or Marsh Ridge, or you could head out of state for golf and vacation with the help of Golf Arizona & Las Vegas, Marriott Vacation Club, RVM Promotions, and Windjammer barefoot Cruises to name just a few.

Innovations and Aids:
Every year there seems to be some new golf innovation or training aid that will shave countless strokes off your typical golf round. This year was no exception. There were products to aid in every aspect of a golf game. If putting is a problem for you, you could get the most advanced indoor putting system from G.L. Technology or you could get a putting green put in your backyard with the help of Hole In One Back Yard Putting Greens. There were swing trainers from Lazereyes, correctable clubs from Nirvana golf, and amazing putters from positive putters. This doesn’t even include the dozen or so club discounters who were selling the latest and greatest clubs conforming and NON-conforming.
Events and attractions:
What golf show would be complete without cool golfing events, and attractions? The Lansing Golf show had plenty of these to go around. There was a miniature golf course put in for the kids, free lessons and tips from various local pros including our own PGA Pro Bill Mory, and hitting nets to practice with the latest and greatest clubs available. There were plenty of booths to practice putting at, and a chipping contest for a chance to win $25,000. Along with these contests, there were countless drawings for golf packages and foursomes including two foursomes at Hawk Hollow and Meridian Sun, which were given away by USGolfer.net.
