Personalized Golf Carts who, what, where, and why not?
With the development of every new golf course, comes the typical housing development. This process turns normally priced acreage into luxury plots with scenic course views thus emptying the pockets of many successful business people and retirees who have always dreamt of living on a golf course. Land at one of these new developments can easily run between $200,000 and $400,000, that is a pretty little penny. If you are lucky enough to live on a golf course or at least within a mile or so, you may have thought about buying your own golf cart.
Buying your own cart offers a lot of benefits including the following:
1. Not having to load and unload your clubs from your car to your cart and vice versa.
2. Changing shoes. Just leave your house with your spikes on. Dont wear them around the house though. They tend to irritate spouses.
3. Customizing your cart with features you want. Thats a separate list entirely.
4. Insert your own rational here!
There are many options available for golfers interested in purchasing their own golf carts. Unfortunately, showing up at your local golf course and buying one of there carts is usually not an option since they least most of their carts more often than not. You will likely have to go through a local Sales Reps for one of the cart manufacturers such as EZ-GO or Club Car. You can generally get a new electric Cart for Around $5000.
Another option is to pick up a used cart. They vary in price depending on how old the cart is and what kind of shape it is in, but a decent 1999 electric golf cart will start around $2000. Gas Carts are generally a little more expensive, but the cost evens out when you consider that for an electric cart, a golfer will have to purchase a charging unit, which average about $400. Unfortunately the carts dont just plug into the wall.
These prices are for your regular plain Jane golf carts. Options such as Club/Ball Washers, Coolers and thermos jugs can be added onto almost any cart for minimal cost. This is great particularly if your local course does not offer these features on their carts. To get the really premium options such as AM/FM Stereo with CD, electrical outlets, or aluminum rims, you will have to venture into the world of Custom Golf Carts.
Custom Golf Carts are often built to resemble popular luxury SUVs and Sports Cars. One of these Cars can easily set a golfer back $20,000, but you can understand why once you take a look at what these bad boys look like. Theyve gotten so far away from golf that in many cases getting a golf bag holder is an additional option that must be ordered. They generally carry anywhere from 2 to 6 people and look really sharp. If you are interested in these carts a good website to check out is www.luxurycarts.com.
Personalized Golf Carts are great if you can afford them and put them to good use, however dont think that having your own cart will help you save money on greens fees. Most courses still charge golfers a trail fee for using personal carts on the course. They also leave open the option of storing your cart at their course. You can expect to pay at least $175/year for a Trail Fee and $125/year for Storage. These are prices were quoted to us from one of our courses and are not a set fee at every course. They are all different but just consider thi sfactor when you are purchasing your next golf cart (or first).
