JP Lann Chipping Practice Net

When I first saw this product in the store, my initial reaction was "It’s just a net to hit balls into. Why would anyone buy that?" Then I saw the price. With a $12.99 price tag, I figured it was worth a shot. It’s under $15 bucks, what’s the worst that could happen? To that question I have a simple three word answer "Some Assembly Required" I’ll get more into that later.

The good (or so they advertise)

You can use this product indoors or outdoors
Easy Assembly (Easy! I know 4th Year Calculus theorems that are easier to assemble.)

Durable Steel Frame
Water Resistant Nylon net.
Very Mobile

The Bad
Very basic, you could just as easily hit into a box, laundry basket, bucket, etc.
Can you really use this indoors? Not if you wish to remain in a healthy, (re)productive relationship with your spouse
I couldn’t wait till this section to comment on the Easy Assembly, just because the assembly is simplistic does not make it "easy".
Yes, I noticed that the net was advertised as being Water Resistant. What a load of crap of course the "net is water resistant. It’s a net. Have you ever seen a net that wasn’t water resistant? This was simply grouped with the "Durable Steel Frame & Water Resistant Nylon Net" comment to lead the consumer to believe that the "Durable Steel" was also water resistant which, based on other factors, and is quite possibly untrue.
Assembly time – 26 minutes, 18 minutes on "lacing the net to the metal ring"
One page directionless assembly sheet was the only literature included.

Assembling the chipping net and realizing those bastards shorted you a wing nut – Priceless
You would think that a product manufactured in China, birthplace of the abacus, grandfather to the calculator. Would at least have the right number of parts included. You know that old saying "You get what you pay for." Well apparently sometimes you don’t even get that. There is nothing worse than getting to the very end of a project and realizing that you can’t finish the job because some moron couldn’t put 4 wing nuts into a plastic bag. This company should pay me the $12.99 for the pain and suffering of having to put together there poorly designed product.

Had this product been designed better for easy assembly it would have been a good benefit for most golfers, so this is a theoretical rating based on the concept not the product. A well-produced chipping net would be quite beneficial
