Golfwits- The PC version

In most cases when we do a product review it generally remains less than two pages long. Unfortunately for us, lucky for you the reader, this product was too deep to cover in one single product review. In reality we should really review each separate program included on the Golfwits Pro CD, but that would require testing three different handheld devices, and two totally separate computer programs and time to write those five separate reviews. Instead we will focus this review on the PC version of Golfwits and the applications that it was meant for. Our second review will cover the various PDA programs, which Golfwits is compatible with.
One thing that must be covered in this review, however, is what exactly comes with the Golfwits Pro Cd and the cost involved. For $49.95 you can get the Golfwits Pro bundle as a CD or as a direct download from Golfwits.com. The bundle comes with the following programs:

+ Golfwits PC for the desktop or laptop PC
+ Golfwits for the Palm OS
+ Pocket Golfwits for the Pocket PC (CE 3.0 or greater)
+ Golfwits CE for the Palm-sized PC (CE 2.0 - 2.11)
+ Mapwits, the custom digital map builder

The Golfwits PC Version allows you to "view, plan and strategize" at home before
You hit the course "live". This basically means that by using features like the Pro Book or Scorecard, a player sees exactly how each hole should play out. That golfer can then plan based on the detailed hole overviews how each hole should be played. When that person actually heads out to the course, the player may record exactly how the round went by using either the Pro Book or Scorecard feature. Once you have played the course, you can enter your round into the Golfwits program, which will analyze your round and help pinpoint which areas of your game need the most improvement, in case you didn’t remember.

Course Maps vary in look and depth of design from course to course.
Program difficult to operate without instructions, non-intuitive controls. Easy, once you’ve done the research.
A little pricey at $49.95 for a smaller sized program

The God’s Honest Truth
While it may seem at first glance to be a little overpriced for such a small sized program, Golfwits proves in the end to be a great value. The program may be smaller in size, but its simplicity is what makes this program a great tool for golfers of any skill level. If only it was available for portable devices so that scores and distances could be recorded and displayed while playing the course. Oh wait, they can be.
