USGolfer.net Golf Tip for September, 2001.
Eliminate the myster!! Take a golf lesson!!
There is more written about the game of golf than any other sport in the world. The sheer amount of information about the golf swing and the game is so overwhelming that it even makes me dizzy.
The Mystery surrounding the golf swing and the game of golf has been very well documented in books and videos and is enhanced by the weekly tournaments we all view on television. After listening to some of the broadcasters, golf can almost seem impossible for the average person to learn let alone master; or so fascinating that one becomes so infatuated with every detail of the swing and strategy that he/she cant even pull the trigger. Books and videos can teach you bits and pieces of the swing but are often very confusing, especially for a novice. Your friends and spouses are well intentioned but usually teach you what they do, not what you should do.
Remember that GOLF is just a game. Keep it simple, use your common sense and you will play a lot better and have more FUN! Part of keeping it simple is learning and following some basic fundamentals of the swing and the game.
This is where your PGA professional can and WILL HELP YOU. If you were headed to Las Vegas for the first time to play Blackjack or Craps, would you feel more confident if you knew how to play the game? I know that I would and Im sure a few lessons would save me money and make that game more fun in the long run. Golf is the same way.
By taking a few lessons on golfs basics, you will learn to swing the club easier and hit the ball better than you ever though imaginable. Many players struggle through their entire lives trying to figure out how to "hit the ball". They become frustrated, irritable, even depressed when their games dont improve. This is the number one reason players give up and quit playing golf. They think its too frustrating or just too hard. Dont let yourself fall into this trap. Call you PGA professional and learn a simple method of swinging the club and you will enjoy this game forever. After all, golf is about swinging the club, not hitting the ball.
